November update

This month flew by! I've always loved November. Sandwiched between Halloween and Christmas, November features elections, my birthday, Thanksgiving and the brilliance of autumn. It's also short, which is wonderful.

This November of mine included a quick trip home for my good friend Dan's wedding in Lawrence on November 15th. I met Dan in Spain, he is one of my "7 best friends" from that trip. We had a phenomenal, though brief, reunion for his wedding. The photo is above.

My birthday was a quiet affair, 23 is nothing to celebrate. As always, the messages and phone calls from friends were heartwarming. Matt baked me an amazing cake, two-layer dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling and a chocolate ganache frosting. We ate the entire thing in about 5 days....yikes! Kayla, it was comparable to your amazing chocolate cake topped with berries and almonds. Yum.

Work has been tiring. It's so slow right now....many days I have nothing to do, and if I am busy - it's moving data around in Excel files. BORING! I also found out I won't sail until July, which is very disappointing. It was my choice though. I could either sail in March and go to Hawaii or sail in July and go to Canada and Japan. I also jumped at the chance to leave Texas during the hot, humid, horrible summer.

I'm driving home tomorrow for Thanksgiving. The 10-hour trip TO Kansas is tolerable because I'm excited to see family and friends. The 10-hour trip BACK to Texas is miserable. It's worth it, though. This Thanksgiving I'll spend at Wilson Lake. My aunt just bought a new house there and we're excited to break it in. We'll eat, fish, eat, fish, but not eat fish. That's icky. :)

December should progress quickly too. I'm so excited to come home for Christmas - and see all of you! Having events to look forward to make living so far away from home easier to bear.

I hope you all have a happy, safe, gluttonous Thanksgiving. See you in about a month!
