Merry Christmas update

Ladies, I've loved your blogs over the past few months, especially Kayla's humorous teaching stories and Stephy's ridiculous photoshopping. My only complaint is that you all don't blog enough!

I can't wait to see you all on December 29th! Until then, here is a quick update on life. I've attached a few pictures and my Christmas Letter. I had great plans to send Christmas cards to all my dear friends. I got through 25 and then gave up. There was only so much Christmasy-wishing I could do. I apologize to those of you who were left out. Please forgive me!

College Station has a very nice ice rink. It's Matt and I's favorite form of exercise - in the only really cold place in town. Last night we were there with Santa Claus himself. Santa was jolly, offering Ho Ho Hos and impromptu skating lessons. He was very nice (even if he was an A&M fan).

Earlier in December I took a week-long intensive Marine Firefighting Training course. It was quite amazing! We wore real gear and fought real fires. The last day we spent in the swimming pool learning sea survival skills. A&M has a firefield at which they train firefighters from all over the country. We fought fires on the deck of a retired ship they brought from the Gulf to College Station. It was mentally and physically one of the most exhausting things I've ever done. I LOVED fighting fires and am looking into being a volunteer firefighter. My favorite picture is below and the rest can be viewed here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27464711@N05/

Last Friday President Bush was in town to speak to the December 2008 graduating class at A&M. It was his last comencement speech as President. I had to work, but watched the event on the internet. I was not impressed. He did land in a helicopter right across from the office, though, so we all ran outside and watched. I shot a great pictures of him emerging from Marine One.

I'm riding home with a friend from high school who lives in Austin on Friday, December 19th, and will come back to TX with Matt on Sunday, January 4. My two wonderful weeks of break are quickly being filled by time with family and friends...including all of you!

Happy Holidays, safe travels, and Happy Birthday to Genna and Kel. See you soon!

Firefighting? You never cease to amaze me. I'd like to say I'm surprised to think of you as a volunteer fire fighter, but for some reason, I'm not! We really enjoyed your Christmas card. Thanks for getting us into the first 25 :) Looking forward to seeing you on the 29th!
